S1000D has a strong data reuse methodology.

Taking advantage of these data reuse concepts means that data duplication can be avoided, and we can hold and manage common assets and pieces of information in one location.

The Common Information Repository (CIR) is one of these concepts, it allows you to manage specific pieces of data in dedicated Data Modules (DM) specific to the information being held.

Implementing the CIR can be complex for newcomers to the S1000D specification, so we have made sure that the Xignal S1000D Suite makes adopting these concepts simple.

The short video below demonstrates how you can use an Excel template to quickly populate a supplies CIR Data Module in the Xignal S1000D Suite, and then reference a specific supply item in the CIR from your procedural DM.
